In the Navy, the <strong><em>Chief Petty Officer<\/em><\/strong> serves a dual role as both a technical expert and as a leader; emphasis being more on leadership. There is always a sense of humor that comes from this culture. For the Navy, I find the more ingenious humor typically involves a CPO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Enjoy this Navy Friday Funny.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A sailor was caught AWOL trying to sneak on board his ship at about 0300 (3 am).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Chief Petty Officer spied him and ordered the sailor to stop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Upon hearing the sailor&#8217;s lame excuse for his tardiness, the Chief ordered the sailor, &#8220;Take this broom and sweep every link on this anchor chain by morning or it&#8217;s the brig for you!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The sailor picked up the broom and commenced performing his charge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As he began to sweep, a tern landed on the broom handle. The sailor yelled at the bird to leave, but it didn&#8217;t. The lad picked the tern off the broom handle and gave the bird a toss. The bird flew off, only to return and once again, light on the broom handle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The sailor went through the same routine all over again, with the same result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He couldn&#8217;t get any cleaning done because he could only sweep at the chain once or twice before the blasted bird returned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When morning came, so did the Chief, to check up on his wayward sailor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;What in the heck have you been doing all night? This chain is no cleaner than when you started! What have you to say for yourself, sailor?&#8221; barked the Chief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Honest, Chief,&#8221; came the reply. &#8220;I tossed a tern all night and couldn&#8217;t sweep a link!&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Each military branch of the United States has its own cultures, language, and traditions.
