Navy Friday Funny – The Chief & the Preacher

Navy Friday Funny Logo v2

Each military branch of the United States has its own cultures, language, and traditions. In the Navy, the Chief Petty Officer serves a dual role as both a technical expert and as a leader; emphasis being more on leadership. There is always a sense of humor that comes from this culture. For the Navy, I find the more ingenious humor typically involves a CPO.

On a long flight from San Diego to Norfolk, a southern Baptist preacher was seated next to a U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer.

After the plane took off, the Chief asked the flight attendant for a whiskey and soda. Within a few minutes, she brought his drink and placed it on his tray with an engaging smile.

The flight attendant then asked the preacher if he would like a drink.

Appalled, the preacher staunchly replied, “I’d rather be tied up and taken advantage of by several women of ill-repute, than to let liquor touch my lips.”

The Chief then handed his drink back to the attendant and said with a wink, “Me too. I didn’t know we had that option.”

God Bless our Navy Chiefs
