Navy Friday Funny – Don’t Mess with a Senior Senior Chief… or His Wife

Navy Friday Funny Logo v2

Each military branch of the United States has its own cultures, language, and traditions. In the Navy, the Chief Petty Officer serves a dual role as both a technical expert and as a leader; emphasis being more on leadership. There is always a sense of humor that comes from this culture. For the Navy, I find the more ingenious humor typically involves a CPO.

A retired US Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer and his lovely wife were in downtown San Diego shopping for their soon-to-be grandchild. They decided to walk over to Little Italy for a quick lunch.

After exiting the restaurant, they noticed a policeman writing out a parking ticket. On top of that, he noticed the car’s bumper sticker: Retired Gunny, USMC.

The Chief, showing a little salt & pepper on his flattop, walked up to the cop, and said, “Come on. How about giving a senior citizen a break?”

The policeman simply ignored the Chief and continued to write the ticket.

The Chief, not one to give up so easily, called him a “butthead.” His wife was next to him, and he’d promised to improve his language when around her.

The policeman finished writing the ticket and looked at the Chief. After placing the ticket on the windshield of the red & black ‘72 Ford Torino, he began to write another ticket for having worn-out tires.

The Chief’s wife, having seen enough, called the cop a “jerk.” She’d also promised to clean up her language when around the Chief.

The policeman finished writing the second ticket and placed in on the windshield, along with the first. Then he began to write more tickets.

This went on for another 20 minutes. The more the Chief and his wife offended him… and yes, the standard Navy issue “terminology” returned to both the Chief and his lovely wife… the more tickets the cop wrote.

He finally finished, sneered at both the Chief and his lovely wife, and walked away.

About that time, the city bus arrived, and the Chief and his lovely wife boarded and rode it back to their home in Chula Vista.

The moral of the story… try to have a little fun each day, especially if you’re a senior, Senior Chief.
