Each military branch of the United States has its own cultures, language, and traditions. In the Navy, the Chief Petty Officer serves a dual role as both a technical expert and as a leader; emphasis being more on leadership. There is always a sense of humor that comes from this culture. For the Navy, I find the more ingenious humor typically involves a CPO.

Three men were sitting stiffly side-by-side on a long commercial flight.
After they became airborne and the plane had leveled off, the man in the window seat abruptly said, distinctly and confidently, in a low voice, “Admiral, United States Navy, retired. Married, two sons, both surgeons.”
After a few minutes the man in the aisle seat stated through a tightlipped smile, “Admiral, United States Navy, retired. Married, two sons, both judges.”
After some thought, the fellow in the center seat introduced himself.
With a twinkle in his eye and a smug smile, he loudly proclaimed, “Master Chief Petty Officer, United States Navy, retired. Never married, two sons, both Admirals.”
