Each military branch of the United States has its own cultures, language, and traditions. In the Navy, the Chief Petty Officer serves a dual role as both a technical expert and as a leader; emphasis being more on leadership. There is always a sense of humor that comes from this culture. For the Navy, I find the more ingenious humor typically involves a CPO.

During a routine police patrol, an officer parked his car outside a bar in Oceanside, California.
After the bar’s late-night last call, the officer noticed a Navy Chief leaving the bar, who was apparently intoxicated—he could barely walk.
The Chief stumbled around the parking lot for a few minutes, while the officer quietly observed him.
After what seemed like an eternity, the Chief tried his keys on five different vehicles and finally managed to find his own car, open the door, and fall into it.
He sat there for a few minutes as a number of other bar patrons left the bar and drove off.
Finally, the Chief started his car, switched the wipers on and off (it was a fine, dry, summer night), flicked the blinkers on and off a few times, honked the horn, and then switched on the headlights.
He moved the vehicle forward a few inches, reversed and backed up a bit, then remained still for a few more minutes as more of the bar patrons left in their vehicles.
At long last, when his was the only car left in the parking lot, the Chief pulled out and drove slowly down the road.
The police officer, having waited patiently all this time, now started up his patrol car, put on his flashing lights, and promptly pulled the Chief over and administered a breathalyzer test.
To his amazement, the breathalyzer indicated no evidence that the Chief had consumed any alcohol at all!
Dumbfounded, the officer said, “I’ll have to ask you to accompany me to the police station. This breathalyzer equipment must be broken. I observed you in an obviously drunken state when you left the bar.”
The Chief slowly looked up at the officer. “I doubt it’s broken, officer.”
“And what makes you say that, Chief?”
With a smile and a wink, the Chief sat up straight saying, “Tonight… I’m the designated decoy!”
God bless the Navy Chief Petty Officer.
