Each military branch of the United States has its own cultures, language, and traditions. In the Navy, the Chief Petty Officer serves a dual role as both a technical expert and as a leader; emphasis being more on leadership. There is always a sense of humor that comes from this culture. For the Navy, I find the more ingenious humor typically involves a CPO.

Two retired Navy Chief Petty Officers were sitting in the Senior Chief’s living room, shooting the breeze while their wives were in the kitchen making coffee.
The Senior CPO, several years older than the Master CPO, said, “We went to this wonderful place to eat last night; it was one of the better restaurants we’ve been to lately.”
The Master CPO asked, “What was the name of it?”
The Senior thought for a moment, then asked, “What do you call that red flower that everyone gives on Valentine’s Day?”
The MCPO sighed, thinking his good friend was getting senile. “Rose. It’s called a rose.”
The Senior turned and called out, “Hey Rose. What’s the name of that restaurant we ate at last night?”
