Navy Friday Funny – Captain Visits the Hospital

Navy Friday Funny Logo v2

Each military branch of the United States has its own cultures, language, and traditions. In the Navy, the Chief Petty Officer serves a dual role as both a technical expert and as a leader; emphasis being more on leadership. There is always a sense of humor that comes from this culture. For the Navy, I find the more ingenious humor typically involves a CPO.

A Navy Captain visits several sailors from his ship in a naval hospital soon after they reached their San Diego home port after a Westpac cruise.

He approaches a young seaman Boatswain’s Mate and asks, “What’s your problem, sailor?”

The sailor lowers his eyes and quietly confesses, “Chronic syphilis, Sir.”

“What treatment are you receiving?”

“Five minutes with the wire brush each day, Sir.”

“What’s your ambition, sailor?”

“To get back to the ship as soon as possible, Sir.”

“Good man,” says the Captain.

He walks to the next bed and notes that it’s another Boatswain’s Mate. “What’s your problem, sailor?”

“Gonorrhea, Sir.”

“What treatment are you getting?”

“Five minutes with the wire brush each day, Sir.”

“What’s your ambition?”

“To return to the ship as soon as possible, Sir.”

“Good man.”

The Captain moves down to the next bed, occupied by a aviation Chief Petty Officer.

“What’s your problem, sailor?”

“Chronic gum disease, Sir.”

“What treatment are you receiving?”

“Five minutes with the wire brush each day, Sir.”

“What’s your ambition?”

“To get the wire brush before the other two sailors, Sir.”
