Each military branch of the United States has its own cultures, language, and traditions. In the Navy, the Chief Petty Officer serves a dual role as both a technical expert and as a leader; emphasis being more on leadership. There is always a sense of humor that comes from this culture. For the Navy, I find the more ingenious humor typically involves a CPO.

I’m responsible solely for what I say… NOT what you understand.
Over the years throughout my career—and this hasn’t changed since I left the Navy—common sense is like deodorant. The people who need it the most never use it.
It’s not my age that bothers me, it’s the side effects.
As I watch this generation try and rewrite our history, one thing I’m sure of: it will be misspelled, have no punctuation, and will be full of abbreviations like IMO, ICYMI, TBH, BTW, AND ROTFLMAO.
As I’ve gotten older, people think I’ve become lazy. The truth is, I’m just being more energy efficient. Definitely something I learned in the Navy.
I haven’t gotten anything done today. I’ve been in the grocery store producE department, trying to open this stupid plastic bag.
I want to be 19 again and ruin my life differently. I have new ideas, especially for my Navy career.
I’m on two diets. I wasn’t getting enough food on one.
I put my scale in the bathroom corner and that’s where the little liar will stay until it apologizes.
My mind is like an internet browser. At least 19 open tabs, 3 of them are frozen, and I have no clue where the music is coming from.
Hard to believe I once had a phone attached to a wall, and when it rang, I picked it up without knowing who was calling.
Apparently RSVPing to a wedding invitation, “Maybe next time” isn’t the correct response.
I remain cool when someone plays dirty to outrun me in the rat race. I’m not a rat and neither am I in any race.
Sometimes the Universe puts you in the same situation again to see if you’re still a dumbass.
I’ve learned it’s better to drop the ego than to break a relationship. My ego will keep me aloof, whereas with relationships, I’ll never be alone.

Sadly, I don’t even know what most of those shorthand texts mean. But in some consolation, I don’t care. I text now, but rarely abbreviation, preferring “Haha” to Lol.” I have also discovered ways for which I think the Senior Chief would be proud, as I call someone a name without getting kicked off the site. It’s all about the motivation!
I rarely abbreviate, too. Honestly, I had to look these up. Other than LOL & IMO (and who says that when talking anyway?), I’m sure my kids wouldn’t recognize their dad using text abbreviations.
My son is at least kind enough to not roll his eyes in my view. Blessings, A happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
