Each military branch of the United States has its own cultures, language, and traditions. In the Navy, the Chief Petty Officer serves a dual role as both a technical expert and as a leader–emphasis being more on leadership. There is always a sense of humor that comes from this culture. For the Navy, I find the more ingenious humor typically involves a CPO.

A Navy Master Chief got married to his girlfriend, whom he’d only been dating for a few months. One morning, not too long after the wedding, the Chief was packing his uniforms, getting ready for an upcoming deployment.
His wife stood in the doorway, watching… a frown on her face.
Finally, she could no longer stand it and she started in on the Chief.
“You know… now that we are married, your obligations should be to me and not the Navy. We shouldn’t have to put up with these separations. You should be home with me every night.
“I think it’s time you got out of the Navy and accepted the responsibilities of a husband!”
The Chief glared at his wife and sarcastically replied, “You are starting to sound like my ex-wife.”
“Ex-wife!” she screamed. “You never told me you were married before.”
The Chief smugly replied, “I wasn’t.”
