Navy Friday Funny – The Retired Navy SEAL Chief

Each military branch of the United States has its own cultures, language, and traditions. In the Navy, the Chief Petty Officer serves a dual role as both a technical expert and as a leader; emphasis being more on leadership. There is always a sense of humor that comes from this culture. For the Navy, I find the more ingenious humor typically involves a CPO.

A recently retired Navy SEAL Chief Petty Officer accepted a new job as a history teacher in a local San Diego high school.

Just before the school year started, he injured his back and was required to wear a plaster cast around the upper part of his body. Fortunately, the case fit under his shirt and wasn’t noticeable.

One the first day of class, he found himself assigned to the toughest students in the school. The smartass punks, having already heard their new teacher was a former Navy Chief, were leery of him. The Chief knew they wouldn’t wait too long to test his discipline in the classroom.

Walking confidently into the rowdy classroom, the new teacher opened the window wide and sat down at his desk without saying a word. His eyes looked over each and every student, almost like he was studying them and searching out the leader.

When a strong breeze made his tie flap, he picked up a stapler, stood in front of the class, and stapled the tie to his chest.

Dead silence…

The rest of the school year went smoothly — absolutely no discipline problems.

The moral of the story: Never mess with a Navy Chief Petty Officer, active or retired.
